Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: February 1, 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets forth the rules and guidelines for acceptable behavior on the Alma platform (the "Platform"), operated by Atlas IntelliTek, Inc. This AUP is part of and supplements our Terms of Service. All users must comply with this AUP when using the Platform.

Alma exists to facilitate meaningful mentorship connections between students and alumni. We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all users. This policy outlines the behaviors we expect, the activities we prohibit, and the consequences of violations.

2. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on the Platform. Engaging in any of these activities may result in immediate account suspension or termination:

  • Harassment and Bullying: Any form of harassment, intimidation, bullying, threats, or abusive behavior directed at other users, including but not limited to persistent unwanted contact, insults, or derogatory comments.
  • Discrimination: Discriminatory language or behavior based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Spam and Unsolicited Solicitation: Sending unsolicited bulk messages, chain letters, or repetitive content to other users. Using the Platform to advertise, promote, or sell products or services without our express written consent.
  • Impersonation: Pretending to be someone you are not, creating fake profiles, or misrepresenting your identity, credentials, institutional affiliation, professional background, or relationship to any person or organization.
  • Inappropriate Content: Sharing, uploading, or transmitting content that is sexually explicit, pornographic, excessively violent, glorifies self-harm, or is otherwise inappropriate for a professional mentorship platform.
  • Scraping and Automated Access: Using bots, scrapers, crawlers, spiders, or any other automated tools to access, collect, extract, or index data from the Platform without our prior written permission.
  • Unauthorized Access: Attempting to access other users' accounts, private information, or restricted areas of the Platform without authorization. Probing, scanning, or testing the security of the Platform or its infrastructure.
  • Platform Interference: Any action that disrupts, degrades, or interferes with the normal operation of the Platform, including denial-of-service attacks, introducing malware, or exploiting vulnerabilities.
  • Commercial Solicitation: Using the Platform to recruit for jobs, solicit clients, promote businesses, conduct market research, or engage in any commercial activity without our prior approval.
  • Sharing Private Information: Publishing, sharing, or distributing another user's personal or private information (including real name, address, phone number, email, or private messages) without their explicit consent. This includes "doxxing" or any form of unauthorized disclosure.
  • Illegal Activities: Using the Platform for any purpose that violates applicable local, state, national, or international laws or regulations.
  • Referral Program Abuse: Creating fake or duplicate accounts to exploit the referral program, using automated tools to generate referral signups, or any other manipulation of the referral system to earn credits fraudulently. Violations may result in forfeiture of referral credits and account suspension.

3. Content Standards

All content shared on the Platform, including profile information, messages, and introduction requests, must adhere to the following standards:

  • Respectful Communication: Treat all users with courtesy and respect. Communicate in a professional and constructive manner, even when you disagree with someone.
  • Honest Representation: Accurately represent your identity, educational background, professional experience, and qualifications. Do not exaggerate, fabricate, or misrepresent your credentials.
  • Relevant Discussions: Keep conversations focused on mentorship, education, career development, and related topics. The Platform is designed for meaningful professional and academic connections.
  • Constructive Feedback: When providing advice or feedback, do so constructively and with the intention of helping the other person grow and succeed.

4. Mentor-Specific Guidelines

If you are registered as a mentor on the Platform, the following additional guidelines apply:

  • Respond Within a Reasonable Time: We encourage mentors to respond to introduction requests within two weeks. If you are unable to take on new mentees, please update your availability settings so that students are not left waiting.
  • Provide Honest Guidance: Share your experiences and insights authentically. Provide honest, thoughtful, and helpful guidance based on your genuine experience. Do not make promises about outcomes you cannot guarantee, such as guaranteed admissions, job offers, or introductions to specific individuals.
  • Maintain Professional Boundaries: Keep your interactions with mentees professional and appropriate. The mentorship relationship should focus on academic, career, and personal development guidance. Do not seek romantic or inappropriate personal relationships with mentees through the Platform.
  • Respect Confidentiality: Information shared by mentees in the context of a mentorship relationship should be treated as confidential unless they give you permission to share it.

5. Mentee-Specific Guidelines

If you are using the Platform as a student or mentee, the following additional guidelines apply:

  • Respect Your Mentor's Time: Mentors volunteer their time to help you. Be punctual, prepared, and respectful of their schedule. Avoid sending excessive messages or making demands on their time.
  • Communicate Clearly About Your Goals: Help your mentor help you by being clear about what you are looking for. Share your goals, interests, and specific questions so that they can provide the most relevant guidance.
  • Follow Through on Commitments: If your mentor suggests actions, resources, or next steps, make a genuine effort to follow through. Show that you value their guidance by taking their advice seriously.
  • Express Gratitude: A simple thank-you goes a long way. Acknowledge the time and effort your mentor invests in helping you.

6. Reporting Violations

If you encounter behavior that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, we encourage you to report it. You can report violations in the following ways:

  • Email: Send a detailed report to support@joinalma.ai with the subject line "AUP Violation Report." Please include as much detail as possible, including the user involved, the nature of the violation, and any relevant evidence (such as screenshots or message excerpts).
  • In-App Reporting: Where available, you can use the reporting feature within the Platform to flag specific messages, profiles, or content for review.

All reports are reviewed by our team and handled confidentially. We do not disclose the identity of the reporter to the reported user except where required by law.

7. Enforcement

Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in one or more of the following actions, at our sole discretion:

  • Warning: A formal written warning notifying you of the violation and the expected corrective behavior.
  • Temporary Suspension: A temporary suspension of your account and access to the Platform for a specified period, during which you will be unable to use the Platform.
  • Permanent Termination: Permanent removal of your account and all associated data from the Platform. Terminated users are prohibited from creating new accounts.
  • Legal Action: In cases involving illegal activity, threats of violence, or other serious violations, we may report the matter to law enforcement authorities and pursue legal remedies as appropriate.

The severity of the enforcement action will depend on the nature, severity, and frequency of the violation. We reserve the right to take immediate action, including permanent termination, for particularly egregious violations without prior warning.

8. Appeals Process

If you believe that enforcement action was taken against your account in error, or if you would like to appeal a decision, you may do so by contacting us at support@joinalma.ai with the subject line "AUP Appeal."

Your appeal should include:

  • Your full name and the email address associated with your account.
  • A description of the enforcement action you are appealing.
  • Your explanation of why you believe the action was taken in error, including any supporting information or context.

We will review your appeal and respond within 14 business days. Our decision on the appeal is final.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or via email. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
